Why "anti-pyrethroid"?

Pyrethroids, synthetic insecticides similar to pyrethrins produced by pyrethrum flowers, are widely used in pest management. Thanks to their similarity they behave like their natural correspondents. But there?s a limit to their efficacy: in the presence of frequent and uninterrupted use pests develop resistance (i.e. they become less sensitive) to these active ingredients. This limit, combined to their short persistence in high temperatures, imposes the use of products with a thoroughly different mode of action. Organophosphorous products (such as chlorpyrifos, malathion, fenitrothion and diazinone), till not long ago used as an alternative, are no longer available on the European market. The exit from the market of organophosphorus actives has created a market vacuum which makes the necessary alternation of pyrethroids and non-pyrethroids impossible, thus tainting the efficacy of pyrethroids.

This is the reason why INDIA has launched the Anti-pyrethroid, an insecticide containing Bendiocarb. Bendiocarb is not an organophosphorus substance but it has a similar mode of action therefore it is opposed to pyrethroids.
